Paul Alan Sims

Paul Alan Sims, 77, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Born on June 15, 1949, Paul lived a full and accomplished life marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and a joyful appreciation for the people and pastimes he loved most. He graduated from Flaherty High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to attend the University of Louisville, where he earned his Associates of Engineering, Bachelors of Finance, and Masters of Business Administration.

Paul served in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Master Chief, an accomplishment that remained a deep source of pride throughout his life. After his military service, he began his career at Corhart Refractories in Louisville and later continued his work with Saint-Gobain until he retired in 2017, closing a long and successful professional chapter.

He will be remembered as loving, loyal, kind, generous and fun-loving. Paul was an excellent father to his daughters and a proud girl dad who especially loved taking his girls out for a fancy dinner. He loved music, particularly the sounds of the 1960s and 1970s, and found happiness in golf, travel, UofL sports, sharing a good joke, and a good ride on his Harley. He enjoyed time with his many friends, appreciated Sharon’s cooking, and was known to savor a dirty martini or a Manhattan. He also liked to describe himself with a smile as a “farmer from Kentucky.” Paul took his time telling stories, and those who knew him will remember both the stories themselves and the warmth, humor, and personality with which he told them.

Some of the happiest memories of Paul’s life were made with the gang of Cape Coral, where there were many great times together filled with travel, good food, and pool parties. He loved being surrounded by friends and family, and he brought laughter and easy companionship wherever he went.

Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Sharon Sims, who shared his life and love. He also leaves behind his daughters, Heather (Jarett) Sims, Kristen (Lee) Ball. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Davis and Cindy (Doug) Kasey, and by his brother, John (Diane) Sims. He was also Grand-Paul to Jorja and Nate Sims. Also loved his Swiss and Swedish daughters, Nicole Krummen, Anna-Karin Trixe and their families. The love he gave his family, and the pride he took in each of them, will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelley and Jesse Sims; his brother, Terry Sims; his maternal grandmother, Beulah Hager; and his aunt, Helen Hager.

Paul Alan Sims will be remembered with affection for his humor, his loyalty, his love of family and friends, and the many good times he created for those around him. His life was one of service, hard work, and deep enjoyment of the people he loved most, and his memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew him.
