Paul Kenneth Osting, Sr, 95, was called home to God in the early morning hours of May 23, 2026. Born on April 21, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, Paul lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his work, and especially to his beloved wife, Mary Agnes, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love.
Together, they built a life centered on faith, commitment, and family. After her passing in 1999, Paul carried her memory with him every day. Though his passing leaves behind a void, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with her.
Paul was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Louisville, where his faith remained an important and consistent part of his life.
Those who knew Paul best described him as a source of wisdom, a steady presence, and someone whose laughter and love could always be felt in any moment, big or small. He was known as a go-getter who did not back down easily, and his favorite saying, “What’s next?” reflected his approach to both work and life.
For more than 65 years, Paul proudly owned and operated Heitzman Bakery, where his hard work, dedication, and strength helped him become a familiar face to generations of customers. Even in his final years, he could still be found helping out by making Danish, washing pans, and greeting customers at the door.
Paul was preceded in death not only by his beloved wife, Mary Agnes (Heitzman) Osting, but also by his daughter, Mary Patricia Osting. He is survived by his children, Paul Kenneth Osting Jr. and wife Mary Ann; Tim Osting and wife Debbie; Tony Osting and wife Linda; and Marguerite Schadt and husband Dan.
He is also survived by a large and loving family including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Paul Osting III and wife Angela (and children Paul Osting IV and Caroline Osting); Jim Osting and wife Vanessa (and children Ally Osting and Vaughn Osting); Robby Osting and wife Kelly (and children Bernadette Osting, Rose Osting, Mary Agnes Osting, Anastasia Osting, Dominic Osting, Benedict Osting, Fulton Osting, and Margaret Osting); Tim Osting Jr. and wife Kimi (and daughter Megan Osting); Christina Green and husband Sean (and son Owen Green); Olivia Gravely and husband Jake; Cheryl Velarde and husband Lynnie (and daughters Brooklynn Velarde, Reagan Velarde, and Carter Velarde); Beth Marshall and husband Chris (and children Colin Marshall and Gabby Marshall); Amy Phillips and husband Matt (and children Hayden Phillips, Knox Phillips, and Carsyn Phillips); Donnie Rice and wife Maddie; Jennifer Osting; Emily Osting; Layken; Matthew Schadt and wife Katie; and many other beloved extended family members who brought him great joy.
