Paul Donald Miller, I, passed away on September 28, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on June 30, 1950, in Bardstown, Kentucky, where he grew up surrounded by his family and extended family.
Paul built a life marked by faith, determination, and care for others. He attended Shawnee High School and went on to learn to make Braille for the blind at the Kentucky School for the Blind. He also attended Kentucky Vocational School, where he learned how to use a printing press. He was a member of the Free Masons. In his working life, he served as store manager at Payless Shoes Store and was the first African-American supervisor at Louisville Bedding Company. He was business oriented, loved God, was a minister of life at House of Grace, and was known for helping people who were in need, especially those facing addictions.
He found joy in many simple and lasting pleasures. Paul enjoyed playing golf and was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He loved riding his bike, playing marbles and checkers, reading, especially the Bible, and spending time swimming. These interests reflected his energetic spirit and his appreciation for both recreation and reflection.
Above all, Paul will be remembered for the way he cared for people and for the strength of his faith. His life touched many through his kindness, his willingness to help, and the example he set in both work and daily living.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Zipporah Miller; his sons, Paul Miller, II, Apollos Atwood, and John Miller; his granddaughter, Zoey McCloud; his sisters, Doris Jean, Joyce Pumphrey, and Merci Miller; his brother, Bobby Miller; and his nieces and nephew, Melissa Lang, Moniece Benjamin, and Byron Pacheco. He was preceded in death by his father, John Miller, and his mother, Zella McGoffney Linton. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
