Paul Allen "Ike" Eisert, 86, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Paul was born in Edwardsville, IN to Alfred and Lucille Stephenson Eisert and baptized into the faith at St. Johns Lutheran church in Lanesville, IN.
His family made their home in Lanesville where he had a simple, yet adventure filled childhood.
Paul had many opportunities to learn the value of hard work, particularly at his father's appliance store in Lanesville. Every television purchased from Eisert's Sales & Service during the 1950's required Paul and brother Ronnie to climb onto the roof to install the antenna.
His school and church life were also important to his upbringing. Paul's family faithfully attended services at St. Johns. He attended their school through the 8th grade, eventually meeting his future wife Donna at a Walther League outing.
Paul and Donna started dating during their high school years and fortunately for him she accepted his proposal for marriage after her graduation. They began their life together on November 26th, 1960.
Paul had joined the Air Force after his graduation in 1957 and continued to serve as a reservist while working for Alton Box in Louisville then on to be a supervisor for a start up company Dura Container.
It was in 1974 when Donna's father Elmer Gleitz passed away they took over the operation of Polly's Freeze, an ice cream and sandwich drive up restaurant, named after Donna's mother Pauline (Polly) who had passed away in 1968.
During Paul and Donna's 40 years as owners they were successful through their hard work and attention to detail in making Polly's Freeze an enjoyable experience for their many customers. More importantly they passed on their work ethic and values to the young people who worked there, including their children. They were all part of the Polly's family and continued to know they were cared for during and after their employment by Paul & Donna.
Paul had many interests. He was an avid reader of history, particularly of American wars.
Paul enjoyed cars and auto racing both stock and open wheel, particularly the Indianapolis 500 which he imparted to his sons.
Paul's other passion throughout his life was airplanes. He earned his pilot's license and enjoyed several years of flying with a group of men who together owned a plane they flew from the Lanesville airstrip.
Most importantly Paul loved and protected his family, friends, and cats. His example of being faithful to God, church, and family while remaining a steadfast man of conviction will endure forever.
Paul is a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Edwardsville, IN where he held many different positions and knew when a meeting should end.
He worked with Laborers for Christ for several years building Lutheran churches.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law George Gleitz, and daughter in law Teri Jo.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Gleitz); children, Kim Simpson (Mike), Eric Eisert, and Todd Eisert (Amy); grandchildren, Cleveland Simpson (Hayley), Elijah Eisert (Henna), Adam Eisert (Lauren), Abigail Eisert, and Olivia Eisert; and great-grandchildren, Ramsey Eisert and Ruby Simpson.
