Patsy Alice Day Richards, 62, rang in the New Year in Heaven. Shortly before midnight, surrounded by those she loved, Patsy was greeted by Jesus and a host of family and friends who have gone on before.
Nanny, as she was affectionately known, loved so generously. Always ready with a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on and a big bear hug. Just her smile could light up a room. Her laugh was contagious. You never saw her sad. She was the fastest talking southerner you ever met. She was funny, quick-witted, kind and classy. She was strong, gentle, a lover of snow, storms, and nature. Faith and family were of utmost importance. She lived her life to the fullest, sassy and stubborn.
Born in Whitesburg, KY, she moved to Louisville, KY at 15 years of age and became a resident of Shelbyville, KY two years ago. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Richards Roofing and Sheetmetal for 25 years. She worked for the Louisville Metro Police Department for 16 years and 1 year for the school system in Jackson, KY. She worked at Toyota for just shy of 5 years with a great group of people that she called her work family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bertus and Viola (Adams) Day, brothers Raleigh (Jessie) Day, Billy Joe Day, Ralph Day, H.L. Day, sisters Barbara Albert, Dorothy (Lawrence) Seals, Sarah Bell (Felix) France, her nephews Steven Seals, Scott Seals, Ralph Day Jr., Frankie Jenkins, special son Daniel Smith and a whole host of family and friends to greet her in Heaven with Jesus.
She is survived by her greatest accomplishments, her daughters Brandie Mour, April (Jason) Cerra, Amy Davis, Amanda Richards, her bonus daughter Andrea Tuddle Plummer, her grandchildren Anthony and Isaiah Hiben, Lillie Mour, Tavian and Thyme Drake, Layla Davis, her ex-husband after 30 years Mark (Allison) Richards, her brothers Jimmy (Wanda) Day, David (Gaye) Day, Lonzo (Mary) Day, sister Susan (Cecil) Clair, and her close friend of almost 40 years Betty Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a service to follow at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 6th at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive).
