Patricia "Pat" Wardell (age 95) died on December 10, 2021. Pat lived most of her life in her native state of California. For the past nine years, Pat's home was the Miralea retirement community at Masonic Home in Louisville. Pat's love of family was one of her brightest gifts. Pat leaves behind her two children, Kevin (Linda) Wardell and Jean (Ron) Garcia, plus 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Family members could always count upon her love and support, and she will be greatly missed. Pat was married to the love of her life, Tom, for 62 years. They met as children in Los Angeles but did not start dating until after World War II. During the 1960s Tom's career took them to various cities across the country, although the family returned home to California in 1968. In many of the cities, Pat was a substitute teacher. During their retirement years, the two of them loved traveling throughout the globe. After Tom's death, Pat moved to Louisville and continued to live a full life as a resident leader at Miralea and as an active congregant at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
A memorial service for Pat will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 330 Hubbards Lane, St. Matthews, KY on Thursday, December 16th. Visitation will begin at 9:15 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM. Next summer her ashes will be interred next to Tom and other relatives in Los Angeles.
Donations in her honor to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, CARE USA, or a charity of the donor's choice are encouraged.
