Patricia Ann "Pat" Peacock Holmes, age 72 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1953, to the union of Dewey and Ollie Mae Peacock. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Elim Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Green Castle Baptist Church. In 1998, Pat married Melvin Holmes, Jr., and united with St. Paul Baptist Church at Shively Heights, where she faithfully served as a choir member and was active in the Deacon Wives Ministry. In 2022, as her health declined, Pat and Melvin became virtual members of Canaan Christian Church, where they worshipped together until her passing. Her favorite scripture, Jeremiah 33:3, reflected her deep trust in God’s promises:
“Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Pat worked as an Executive Secretary and later as a Coal Statistician at Louisville Gas & Electric Company, where she dedicated more than 25 years of faithful service before retiring on disability in 1997.
She graduated from Louisville Male High School in 1971, earned an Associate Degree from Jefferson Community College in 1974, and later received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisville in 1978. She was also a proud member of the Aurora Chapter No. 96.
Pat was known for her warm, caring, and loving spirit—a quietly positive influence in the lives of all who knew her. She was affectionately known by many names, including Patty Watty and Patty Duke. Pat opened her heart and home through adoption, becoming a devoted and loving mother to Maya and Tyrone. She was the glue that kept her family connected, always ensuring everyone remained informed and close. She never missed an opportunity to express her love for others or her unwavering faith in the Lord. However, those who knew her well understood not to call during her favorite television show, The Young and the Restless.
Surrounded by her loving family, Patricia peacefully departed this life on January 12, 2026, and went home to be with her Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Peacock, Sr. and Ollie Mae Peacock, and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Peacock Elliott.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her devoted husband, Melvin Holmes, Jr.; her daughters, Maya-Mae Marie Ross, Adrianne (Archie) Jackson, Diana (Terry) Atkinson, Donna Brown, and Cheri (Jason) Langley; her son, Michael Tyron Unseld; her brothers, Robert (Vonda) Ross, Robert (Norma) Peacock, Dewey (Sharon) Peacock, Jr.; her sister, Naomi Marie Peacock (Anthony, Sr.) Brown; her sister-in-law, Charlene (Tommy) Summers; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Elizabeth Holmes; her aunt, Dorothy Tillman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
“God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, ‘Peace Be Thine.’ The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are past. The ever-patient, worn-out frame has found sweet rest at last.” — The Family
Visitation will be from 11am to 12pm with a celebration to follow at 12pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 all at Canaan Christian Church, 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
