Patricia Anne "Patti" (Bundy) Kinchlow, 90, of New Albany, Indiana, transitioned from this life to the next on Monday, May 17, 2021.
She was the only child of Leroy and M. Agnes (Nicholson) Bundy, born on September 21, 1930. In addition to her parents, Patti was preceded in death by her half-siblings, Henry and Wanda Bundy; and first husband, Delbert Philpott.
Patti professed her belief in Christ and was baptized at the age of seven at the First Christian Church in Monticello, Indiana. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Monticello in 1948, she completed two years of study at Indiana University, where she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi social sorority. After marriage in 1951, she lived in Chicago for one year and then moved to Falmouth, Massachusetts, working at the Marine Biological Laboratory and the Laboratory of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, both located in Woods Hole.
After divorce in 1963, Patti returned to Indiana University in January of 1965 and completed a B.A. in History in 1967 and an M.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures in 1969. Upon receiving a scholarship from the Center for Arabic Study Abroad (UCLA, Berkley), she continued to study Arabic from June of 1969 to July of 1970 at the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Returning to Bloomington, she continued her studies in Library Science under the Internship Program and received the M.L.S. degree in May of 1973. In June of 1973 Patti married her beloved husband, David Kinchlow. and began residence in New Albany. She became Office Manager at Environmental Consultants, Inc. where she was employed from 1973 to 1996. She continued to be active at New Zion Baptist Church, where she played piano for the Pastor's Choir from 1978 until 1988. In 1989 she joined the Messengers for Christ Community Choir and was Secretary of the choir from 2000 to 2012. She was still an active member, serving as Section Leader for the First Altos.
Patti was an accomplished seamstress and made most of her clothing and coats. She enjoyed attending the annual music conventions at both Hampton University in Virginia and the Gospel Workshop of America which meets in various cities around the United States each summer. Patti was a current member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Albany. Survivors include her husband of almost 48 years, David; his children; his sister, Geneva Wilkerson and her family; and Patti's niece, Cheryl Sagendorf; plus many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her funeral service taking place at 2:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
