Pastor Olan Kearns

Pastor Herbert Olan Kearns, 80, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Herbert was a man of God and was the minister of the Hour of Power Church in New Albany and also worked as a meat cutter for Kroger. He was a member of the Holiness Association in Indiana and was ordained a minister many years ago in the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. Herbert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and loved our God, our country, and his family more than anything. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be remembered as a man who was full of love for everyone in his life. He always knew that he was one of God's Children and that Heaven was his place to be and wishes for everyone to join him one day.

He was born on March 26, 1940, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to the late James and Nettie (Myers) Kearns. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Dunn; and grandson, James Thomas Kearns.

Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Coomer) Kearns; children, Bobby (Opal) Kearns and Deborah (Terry) Crum; stepchildren, John (Michelle) Kaelin, Tony (Sulayne) Kaelin, Diane Rose, Tabby (Danny) Herron, Sean (Valerie) Kaelin, and Sterling Kaelin; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; sister, Myrtle Vaughn; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and church members.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at the Charlestown Cemetery in Charlestown, Indiana.
