Pastor Gail Leslie Bowdre was born on December 4, 1947 in Louisville, KY to the late Lewis and Elizabeth (Woolfolk) Manley. Gail departed this life for eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, age 74, at Baptist Health Hardin surrounded by her loving family.
Gail graduated Ahrens Trade High School in 1965, where she was the first black student to attend.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at Refuge in Kentucky Church Louisville, KY in 1985.
Gail was truly a woman after God's heart. Over the years she faithfully served as a missionary, evangelist, pastor and prophet. A student of alcohol and drug counseling in the early-mid 80s, she later devoted herself to ministry. She loved Kingdom work and operated with an apostolic anointing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend.
Gail loved to be called "Momma" by her kids, and GiGi by her grandchild.
Gail retired from her final role as a Statistician from the Census Bureau after 30 plus years. During her time there she was known as hard-working, dedicated and caring. In her free time, she enjoyed sharing a good meal and watching movies with family. She particularly loved a good infectious laugh at something that tickled her.
On July 17, 2009, Gail was united in holy matrimony with Raymond Bowdre Sr.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Raymond Elbert Bowdre, Sr.; son, Ian M. (Airlea) Williams, Sr.; son, Zachary A. Dean; grandson, Ian M. Williams, Jr.; brother, Bryan (Sheila) Manley; and a host of extended family and friends.
