Anne Pamela (Pam) Owens passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 29, 1943, in Lexington, Kentucky, Pam lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service. She was a woman who deeply believed in the power of God, the promise of recovery, and the strength of people, regardless of their starting point.
A devout Catholic, Pamela’s faith guided her. She was unwavering in her belief that God’s grace and the fellowship of AA could transform lives. For many years, she dedicated herself to working with women in prison, helping them find hope and sobriety when they had nearly lost both. She carried the message of AA with frankness, humor, and love, meeting people where they were and reminding them that redemption was always possible. To those who struggled, she was their proof that change could take root with faith and effort. Her ability to work through hard times and find forgiveness brought truth to the adage that without struggle, there is no progress.
Pam was a Renaissance woman who found joy in the simple moments of everyday life with her kids. She loved tending her garden and spending time with her dachshunds. On weekends, she could often be found in her kitchen, making soup to sell at the local market. And in the quiet evenings, she settled into her favorite chair to watch her “programs” on the Hallmark channel- often with a sharp opinion on the main character’s love interest. She would spend time on the phone with each of her kids, sharing details about her day, and making everyone laugh with her sharp wit.
Pamela was many things: a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, friend, and sponsor, but above all, she was a woman of faith. Her spirit will continue to live in the hearts of those who loved her and had the privilege to know her.
She is survived by her children: Mark Owens, Amy Anne Owens (McClain) Adams, Melissa Anne Owens (Underwood) Geheifer, Timothy Clarke Owens, and her grandchildren, Savannah Spears (McClain), Emily Underwood, Cody Owens and Christopher Adams, her sister Rebecca Armstrong (Bennett), and Beau Bennett. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Adrienne Flaherty, her brother, Christopher Bennett, her sister, Shari Bennett and her grandsons Sean and Patrick Flaherty. She also has 11 beautiful great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place after Thanksgiving.
Pamela’s legacy is one of grace, faith, and brazen strength is a reminder that even in the hardest times, love and service can change lives.
