Pamela Janeil Bowsman Howard was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on February 21, 1942. to the late Eva Griffin Bowsman and Standford H. Bowsman. She responded to Gods call on Wednesday December 3, 2025, not long after her dear friend Joanne William Smith Holyfield.

Pamela attended Kelly Miller High School where she was a majorette and outstanding student. And attended Washington Irving High School the first year of its integration. After high school she and her late husband Charles A Howard traveled with their band ‘Pam and the Upsetters’ for a few years. Before settling down to home life and owner operators of the ‘Vets Club’ on Monticello Avenue in Clarksburg. The Vets Club had a grand ball for the first few years. Pam would sew her own design worthy ball gowns. She was a trendsetter with her signature head bands and extra large earrings. And even at 83 year of age she still wore her makeup, headbands and earrings.

Pam was well known for her singing even after her career ended. She would call those close to her on their birthday to sing the birthday song. And when there were family gatherings, she was often asked to sing a selection. She enjoyed drawing, painting, writing poetry, cake decorating and crocheting. She liked to tinker and build things like furniture, lamps and even made jewelry. She was also well known for her cooking. When her grandchildren visited from Kentucky, they couldn’t wait to see what their “Big Mama” had prepared for them.

Pam was owner operator of ‘Pam’s Nest in-home Daycare where 104 children were loved and treasured for over 34 years. Some of them were second and third generation. Pam was elected as the day care organization president multiple times.

Pam was preceded in death by her estranged husband, Charles (Chero) Howard; mother, Eva Bowsman Tucker; father, Standford Bowsman; brothers, Louis Johnson, Standford Bowsman Jr., and Lenny Lamar Bowsman; and favorite uncle, Roy D Bowsman.

Pam passed away in Louisville, KY. surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her daughter, Lynna (Mike) Marshall; her grandchildren, Cori Marshall, Keyva (Nate) Masden and Micah Marshall; her great-grandchildren, Zhanee’ Masden, DaSaun Marshall, twins Jalyn & Gemari Marshall, LaNay Masden and twins Kahlia & Donovan Marshall; and her great-great-grandchildren, LeNae & Jeremiah Bolden. Pam’s six sisters are left behind to mourn, Norma Jameson, Autrice (Merl) Taylor, Sahara Devol, Sha Sha Bowsman, Alice (Steve) Jones and Antonia (Robbie) Robinson; and a host of relatives and friends.

Pam hated to leave her special friends Jay McCoy and Roxann Shuttlesworth who helped her to maintain her independence in her own home for many years. She was a favorite Aunt and Cousin to many of the Griffin clan. She will be greatly missed.
