Orville James Spurgeon, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. He was a proud veteran of The United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Orville enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of Hursttown United Methodist Church.
He was born on May 1, 1929, to the late Levi James and Odie Faye Spurgeon. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Casey and Mildred Morris; and brother, Levi Spurgeon.
Orville is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine (Jones) Spurgeon; children, Jacqueline McCarty (Mike), James Spurgeon, Belinda Allen (Michael), and Vickie Medlock; grandchildren, Heather (Chris), Shawn (Ruthie), Jimmy (Nicole), Jeremy (Ashley), Evan, Anthony (Dawn), Christina (Rick), Amber, and Stevie; and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Hursttown United Methodist Church (658 Sky Aire Road NE, Corydon, Indiana). His Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the church with burial to follow at Palmyra Cemetery.
