Orville "J.R." Riley, Jr., aged 59, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
J.R. was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, papaw, nephew, and friend whose generous spirit touched all who knew him. A master craftsman with a special talent for woodworking, he could create just about anything with his hands. His willingness to go above and beyond for those he cared for will remain a lasting testament to his character. In his free time, J.R. found joy in fishing, camping, and watching boxing. An accomplished professional arm wrestler, he won numerous competitions, showcasing both strength and dedication. His presence will be deeply missed by all fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
Born on January 9, 1967, in Lansing, Michigan, to Orville Riley and Barbara Robinson. J.R. was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jo Robinson, his father, Orville Riley, Jr., and his beloved grandson, Brenton Scott Seeders.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Laura Riley; daughter, Ashley Riley-Elder; grandson, Easton Elder; brother, Kevin Riley; father-in-law, Mike Cason; mother-in-law, Gloria Cason; aunt Patty Searcy; cherished fur-babies, Sire and Rascal; as well as a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation, which will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the same location, with burial to take place at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
