Orvan Aaron Popplewell, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered into the Lord's presence on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Orvan was a member of Eastside Praise Ministry Center, and he served in the Air Force during WWII.
He was born on December 30, 1924 in Eli, Kentucky to Theodore and Jenevieve Popplewell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Jenevieve Popplewell; son, Michael Kent Popplewell; and brothers, Tommy Popplewell, Carson Popplewell and Okie Popplewell.
Orvan is survived by his loving wife, Janis Popplewell; children, Robbie Popplewell, Sr., (Janet), Judy McDaniel (Tommy), Debe Skidmore (Harold) and Danny Popplewell (Genie Kearney); grandchildren, Robbie Popplewell, Jr., (Pam), Troy Popplewell (Sara), Whitney Jones, Jennifer Lefler (Matt), Jessica Holbrook, Marty McDaniel (Janet), Jody McDaniel (Blaire), Beth Rayhill (Clint), Danielle Ware (Jason) and Courtney Wheatley (Kyle); and great-grandchildren, Reid, Emily, Cole, Ethan, Reilee (Justin), Alexandria, Maleah, Nayland, Gregory, Mallory, Evan, Silas, Stella, Morgan, Landon and Maddison and one great-great grandchild, Brody; siblings, Dean Popplewell (Cindy), Ann Popplewell, Mimi Popplewell, Spencer Popplewell (Della), Jerry Popplewell (Sandra) and Bobby Popplewell.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Eastside Praise Ministry Center, (6300 Billtown Road, Louisville, KY 40299). Visitation will resume from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at church. A private burial will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
