July 16, 1922 — March 30, 2016

Orpha McKnight, 93, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her mother Olive Trosper, husband Thomas McKnight, son Donald Lee McKnight and sister Ruby Phelps.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Ruth Van Vlerah and Nancy McKnight (Clyde), five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Orpha retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education from Seneca High School and was also a member of Bashford Manor Baptist Church.

For the last three years she was a resident at Elmcroft of Mt. Washington where she received loving care and attention from every staff member and the other residents. The family would like to offer their most profound thanks and gratitude to Elmcroft for all their kindness.

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 from 9:30am until the time of her funeral service at 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive Louisville, Kentucky 40243 with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family also wishes to express their appreciation to everyone at Hosparus who cared for her and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
