Oneita Johnson

August 27, 1945 — January 28, 2015

Oneita "Nete" Johnson of Louisville, KY was called Home on January 28, 2015. She was born and raised in Loretto, KY. After graduating nursing school she married Steve and settled in Louisville. She worked in nursing for many years and was involved in many of her sons' extracurricular activities. In her retirement she spent lots of time with friends and her siblings and doting on her grandchildren.

Oneita was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen R. Johnson; her parents, Owen and Susan Thomas; brothers, Cooper and Karl Thomas; brother-in-law, Benedict Brussell; and nephews, David and Scott Johnson.

She is survived by her sons, Kurt Johnson (Mary) and Shawn Johnson (Karin); grandchildren, Dane and Erin Johnson and Laci Kochert; siblings, Ann Brussell, John Thomas (Catherine), Michael Thomas (Beverly), Cheryl Edgren, Wanda Votaw (Donald), Jackie Kern (Greg), Terri Cox (John), Lou Ann Thomas; brother-in-law Gerald Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive on Sunday, February 1st from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass of celebration will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 2nd, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, Jeffersontown, KY 40299. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorial Expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
