Norman Howard Williams, age 68, of Shepherdsville, passed away on Friday, September 17. A native Texan, he grew up in Houston and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, spending a year in Thailand. He met Sheree Huber, a native Kentuckian, in Houston in 1982 and they married in Louisville in 1986. After marriage, he moved to Alpine in the Big Bend region of West Texas where he started a business and his family. Their three sons, Shane, Sage, and Cody, were born there. He held a master HVAC license in Texas and owned and operated Alpine Air and Appliance for the ten years he lived in Alpine. He took classes at Sul Ross State University in Alpine and completed his associate degree at Jefferson Community and Technical College after moving to Kentucky. Norman's lifelong passion was aviation. He was a private pilot for more than three decades until health issues ended his flying. Even after selling his beloved Cessna 172 and being unable to fly, aviation never ceased to be magical for him. He loved sailing, he was an artist, and he loved creating and constructing things, from baking bread to growing tomatoes or peppers to designing and building bridges and buildings. He was a member of Vine Hill Baptist Church for more than 20 years. He was devoted to Bogie and then Trixie, his faithful canine companions. But most of all, Norman loved his family -- his wife of almost 35 years and his three sons. His curious and creative spirit lives on in these three fine young men of whom he was so proud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Chrissie Lewis Williams and Claude Ernest Williams, and his sister, Elizabeth Claudette Williams.
Norman is survived by his wife Sheree; sons Shane, Sage (Megan), and Cody; grandsons Holden, Silas, and Caiaus; and other family and friends.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date when gathering together is not a concern because of COVID. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
