Norman Veech

Norman Veech, 81, of Taylorsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Isaiah 40:30-31 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

He was born on November 19, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Robert and Ada Lee (Blair) Veech. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Robert Veech and Ronnie Veech and longtime friend Joseph Downs.

Norman was a graduate of Eastern High School Class of 1958, he retired as a Lab Manager for KABA/Select Sires, was a longtime active Deacon at Elk Creek Baptist Church, an Honorary Lt. Colonel, an Aid De Camp Governor's Staff, GA and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

His hobbies included carpentry and woodworking making of furniture. Norman completed total restoration of a Civil War Cannon for Copeland Sausage Company in Alachua, FL and totally restored an antique horse drawn "Huntin Buggy" for Gilco Hunting Preserve in Gilcrist County, FL. He was a proficient weaver of rugs, machine embroidery, quilting and bowl/basket making. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Norman was also a masterful story teller.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Elizabeth (Murphy) Veech, children; Katherine (Larry), Sarah (Bob), Suzann (Dennis), Mark Owen Veech, eight grandchildren; Jeremy (Kristina), Justin (Ashley), Alex, Aaron (Katherine), George (Angel), Spencer (Bobbie), Jessica, Bryan, thirteen great-grandchildren; Gabe, Paris, Tucker, Grace, Juliann, Rachael, Adara, Kadence, William, Brooklynn, Cooper, Ollie and LouLou. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Eugene) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to the current Covid19 guidelines all services are private.

The family requests that contributions in Norman's memory be made to Elk Creek Baptist Church or Crusade for Children.
