Norman Edward Lankert

Norman Edward Lankert, 89, died Friday, March 17th at his home. Born on May 4, 1927 in Louisville, KY, Norman graduated from St. Joe Prep School in Bardstown, KY, served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Tollberg in the South Pacific during World War II, and worked for American Standard for over 40 years. Norman was a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where he had been an active coach. He was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Jeffersonville Council and was a Fourth Degree Knight. Norman enjoyed horse racing, golf, and was an IHSAA high school basketball and football official and umpired Clarksville Little League baseball.

Norman is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Frances Edwina "Eddie" (Long) Lankert of Owensboro, KY and parents, Gertrude Winkler O'Brien and Robert Lankert; and great-grandson, Tyler Glenn Tindall.

Norman is survived by his children, Cindy Andres (Ron), Michael Lankert (Jackie), Tish Tindall (Glenn), David Lankert (Sharon), Mindy Ernstberger (Jerry); brother, Mack O'Brien, Jr.; grandchildren: Stephanie Andres Rogers (Matt), Leslie Andres Mills (Justin Helton), Matt Andres (Carrie Beth), Patrick Lankert (Emilee Linders), Stacy Tindall Spinnato (Joe), Jeff Tindall (Kara), Laura Tindall Taylor (Robert), Kathleen Lankert, Mitch Lankert, Jonathan Ernstberger (Ashley), and Leah Ernstberger; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (320 N. Sherwood Avenue, Clarksville) with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
