Norman Douglas Atkinson
January 7, 1944 — July 5, 2016
Norman Douglas Atkinson, 72, was born on January 7, 1944 to the late Loyd and Mildred Horne Atkinson. He was a United States Marine Veteran, past post commander of AMVETS Post 9, and past second district commander for the State of Kentucky. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans (PVA) and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Diane Anderson Blanton Atkinson; sisters, Wanda Weber (Lloyd), Fredria Croft, Brenda Perry (Ronnie) and Donna Jeffries; a brother, Lloyd Wayne Atkinson (Tonya); four daughters, Arbana Atkinson, Donna Ruth, Kelly Silvers and Rhonda Atkinson; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciate to his caregiver, Debi Scott with Kindred Home Health; Brenda Johnson and the Robley Rex VA Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from Noon till 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.
