Norma Jane Eicher, 89, died July 8, at Sacred Heart Village in Louisville, Ky. Norma was born in Fremont, OH. After graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1943, she attended Tiffin Business College and the University of Toledo.During World War II, she held a civilian stenographic position at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.
She worked for Union Carbide Corp in Fremont before transferring to the Edgewater Works Development Lab in Cleveland.
She retired from Union Carbide's Battery Products-Technology Division in 1986, after a 40-year career with the company as a secretary, including 18 years as secretary for the directors.
Norma was a devoted member of Faith Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, clerk of session, deacon and leader of the Ruth/Esther Circle.
She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and made afghans for women and children in need. Norma enjoyed traveling, visiting family members and friends and was a loyal Cleveland Indians fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Armold and Albert Eicher; and her two brothers, Vernon A. Eicher and James Russell Eicher.
She is survived by two nieces, Judith (Ken) Berzof of Louisville; Christina (Alvin) Rubalcaba of Las Vegas; a nephew, Bob (Deana) Eicher of Fruita, CO; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a great-great niece and nephew.
Services will be Tuesday, July 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 12601 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, OH 44107, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont.
