Nita Joel Montgomery, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 12, 1932 to the late John and Viola Ferris. She was a member of the AMVETS Post 61, Robert E. Newman Post 3636 and VFW Post 1181.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Mclain; and five brothers, John Ferris, Jr., Jim Ferris, Chester Ferris, Arthur Ferris and Phillip Ferris.
Nita is survived by her beloved children, David F. Schofield, Joey (Lisa) Montgomery, Eddie (Gloria) Montgomery and Leigh Ann (Ray) Singer; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
A funeral ceremony to celebrate her life will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will gather on Sunday from 12-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
