Nicholas "Nick" Arthur Burgess, 59, formerly of Louisville, unexpectedly passed away on April 9 at his home in Richmond, VA while preparing to move to Nashville, TN.
Nick was a military veteran serving his country on native and foreign soil. He was formerly employed at Fisher Meat Packing, Toyota (Georgetown), and Corning (Kannapolis, NC). For 18 years he was employed as a machine operator for the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company before retiring in 2013. He began with PM in Louisville relocating with the company to Concord, NC and then to Richmond, VA. He and his wife, Jackie, were to move into their dream home in Nashville, TN the week following his death.
Part of a military family Nick was born in Kansas but grew up in the Valley Station area and graduated from Stuart High School.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents Norman "Buck" Burgess and Esther Burgess, brothers Ray "Boss" Jones and Michael Burgess, and his young niece Samantha Hart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Jacqueline "Jackie" (Stone, Ferguson) Burgess, daughter Stacy Burgess, son Larry Ferguson (Nashville), granddaughters Kayla Burgess, Paige Beneke, grandsons Christian Ferguson and Pierce Ferguson (Nashville), sisters Mary Thompson (Brandenburg), Barbara North (Brandenburg), Linda Little, Brothers Sam Price, Brian Burgess, and two more biological brothers. Many sisters and brothers in laws from the Stone Family and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his beloved pet chihuahua Princess!
Family will receive visitors on Friday May 4 from 11 am -5 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel 10304 Dixie Hwy. Louisville, KY. A special memorial "remembrance" service will take place following visitation at 5 pm.
