Listen to Obituary

Nevetta Lynn Mourgos, a cherished soul who touched the hearts of many with her determination, kindness, and thoughtful nature, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on September 22, 1966, in Leitchfield, KY, Nevetta lived a life marked by love, faith, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

Throughout her years, Nevetta embraced various roles that reflected her vibrant spirit and dedication. More recently, she was a self-employed house cleaner, bringing comfort and care into the homes she tended. Before that, she found joy at the local cosmetic counter, a place where her passion and flair for beauty shone through—as she never went out without her makeup perfectly done. She loved to write and even had one of her books published. Nevetta’s organized, determined nature was a guiding force in all her endeavors, always balanced by her deep care for others. She also loved receiving little gifts from her husband Tom, who was her partner in life for 34 beautiful years.

Nevetta’s interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. She treasured her road trips and travels, especially her journey to the Holy Land, which enriched her spiritual life and brought her immense joy. Her love for animals was profound; she adored her cats and had a special fondness for pigs, exemplified by her own pet pot belly pig. Reading her Bible was a source of strength and comfort for Nevetta, a testament to her enduring faith.

Family held a central place in Nevetta’s heart. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tom Mourgos. Her sister, Michelle (Tim) Embry, along with her aunt Sandra (Willie Jr.) Puckett and uncle Billy (Wilma) Vincent, along with many cousins, extended family and special friends survive her and carry forward the warmth of her memory.

Nevetta was preceded in death by her parents, Nevada and Janice Vincent, and her nephew, Dustin Bond. Their memories hold a treasured place alongside hers in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation to honor and celebrate Nevetta’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and her service will take place beginning at 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. She will be laid to rest privately on Thursday, March 19th at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bee Spring, KY.

Nevetta’s life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and generosity. Her thoughtful nature, her steadfast determination, and the simple joy she found in daily life left an indelible mark. Though she leaves this world, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
