Nancye Robbins Waggoner

March 14, 1957 — June 16, 2016

Nancye Robbins Waggoner passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord Jesus whom she loved and cherished. Nancye was born in Louisville in 1957 to Gena Florine Carroll Robbins and Martin Brent Robbins, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised primarily in Bellaire, Florida. In her early twenties, Nancye studied acting for a time in Los Angeles, California, and though she ultimately chose a different path, she kept a lifelong interest in movies and watched them not only for pure enjoyment, but with an analytic eye and could discuss nuances of film on many levels.

Nancye chose to raise her four children in Hickman County and was pleased to be able to note that her children were the eighth generation to live on the family land. One of the most satisfying periods in her life was the time she spent involved in the development of and participating in the AYSO soccer program. It always made her feel good when young adults would comment to her how much they had enjoyed being coached by her.

Her wit, her warmth, her fierce love for her children and grandchildren, her love of cooking, and her concern for the welfare of others in need will always be remembered by those who love her. Those of you who knew her well know well her courage. Nancye was a deeply spiritual person who lived God's love in so many ways, be it her amazing ability to calm a crying baby, or her affinity and healing hand with animals.

Holding memories of her tenderly in their hearts are those beloved by her: her daughter, Virginia Waggoner Brown and Virginia's fiancé, Will Riddle; her sons, Ian Waggoner, Devin Waggoner and Zach Waggoner; her grandchildren, Gage and Ryan Brown, Alexa King, Mayson Waggoner, and Vincent Waggoner; her brother, Brent Robbins, and sister, Virginia Baker; her niece, Kelly Robbins; special friends Jackie and Gayle Wright; and other dear family and friends.

It was Ms. Waggoner's wish to be cremated. A private memorial service in her honor will take place in Louisville, Ky. A "Celebration of Life" in Tennessee is currently being planned for the coming weeks.
