Listen to Obituary

Nancy L. Stark, born August 4, 1942, passed away on September 12, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by service, skill, faith, and steady devotion to others.

A 1960 graduate of Ursuline Academy, Nancy went on to graduate from St. Anthony’s Nursing School, beginning a vocation that would define so much of her life. She also served her country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, a role that reflected both her discipline and her commitment to caring for others. In her professional life, she dedicated more than 30 years to Baptist East Hospital, where she retired as an operating room nurse. Her long career in nursing stands as a lasting testament to her compassion, professionalism, and quiet strength.

Beyond her work, Nancy found joy in the simple and enduring pleasures that brought people together. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, pursuits that reflected the patience and care she carried throughout her life. She also loved playing bingo and cards at the Jeffersontown Senior Center, where friendship and fellowship were part of the fun. A longtime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, she remained grounded in her faith and in the community that surrounded her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome F. Stark, Sr. and Gertrude H. Stark, and by her brothers, Jerome “Bud” Stark Jr. and Robert Stark.

She is survived by her siblings, Alice Lucas, Susanne Stark, Michael Stark and his wife Kathy, and Mary Ann Monroe and her husband Don, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory. In the lives of those who knew and loved her, Nancy leaves the example of a woman who served faithfully, lived graciously, and found meaning in both duty and companionship. She will be remembered with affection and gratitude.
