Nancy Johnson Burd , 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on June 17, 2018.
She was born on November 3, 1931, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, to the late Vinson Lair and Winifred (Davies) Johnson.
Nancy spent her life caring for others in her chosen profession of social work, having obtained her bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary where she was a member of the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Nancy touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a caring dedicated mother, a loving grandmother and a compassionate champion for her patients.
Nancy is survived by her son, James Mitchell Burd (Kaki), brother Vinson Harrison Johnson of Salmon, Idaho, three grandchildren Elizabeth Catherine, Jacob Mitchell and James Tyler. She is also survived by loving relatives A. Corwin Frost (Randy), Frederick G. Frost (Katie), Claudia Dole (Jeremy), Les Burd (Gloria) and Sue Howe.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the Fireside Room at Southeast Christian Church (920 South Blankenbaker Parkway Louisville, KY 40243) with the memorial service to begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Southeast. She will be interred at a later date at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Cathedral Domain/Camp Scholarship Fund in care of the Diocese of Lexington (P.O. Box 610 Lexington, KY 40588-0610).
