It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrtle (Scherzinger) Doyle, age 74, who left this world peacefully surrounded by her family in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on December 11, 1950, in Louisville KY, Myrtle devoted her life to her family in the city she cherished, where she created countless memories filled with love and laughter.
Myrtle was a beacon of kindness and compassion, whose generous spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was not only a nurturing mother and grandmother but also the heart of her family—a steadfast presence in their lives, full of warmth and unwavering support. Her strength and selflessness echoed through every interaction, leaving a mark on everyone who crossed her path.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Myrtle found joy in playing Bingo with her siblings, decorating for Christmas, and spending time with her family. Her ability to bring joy and family together for every holiday is a legacy that will resonate with those she leaves behind.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joey Doyle Sr.; her cherished daughter, Carla Messer; her granddaughter, Rachel Messer; and other dear family members who left this world too soon. She is survived by her loving children: Joey Doyle Jr. (JJ), Ronald Goodman (wife Katrina Goodman), and David Goodman (wife Christen Goodman).
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: "Little" Robert Messer (Kristie Allen), Rudy Messer, Joey Messer, Daisy Goodman-Neuner (Bryan Neuner), Rose (Goodman) Phan, (Brandon Phan), Stephanie (Doyle) Dickerson (Ron Dickerson), Patrick Doyle, Shawn Hickman (Laura Mattern), Mark Ehlig, Audrey Goodman, Oliver Goodman, Emmet Goodman, and Elliot Goodman. Myrtle also rejoiced in the lives of her great-grandchildren—Rachel, Vanessa, Bella, Haley, Jo Jo, Brie, Carter, Vinny, Baby Dickerson, and Blake Hickman—who will carry forth her love and memory in their hearts.
Myrtle’s life was an inspiring testament to unwavering devotion, perseverance, resilience, and the indelible strength of family ties. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Myrtle’s life. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a service, Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 AM. The gathering and service will take place at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, Southern Indiana Chapel, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana, 47150.
Myrtle’s legacy of love will continue to inspire and uplift all who cherish her memory.
