Myrtle I. Jones was born October 6, 1920 to Lillie and Elbert Parks in Murray, KY. She had two brothers, Marvin and Milton Parks and two sisters, Katherine Ray and Larue Turner. Her parents and siblings all preceded her in death.
Myrtle married Joseph Ray Jones, also from Murray, June 17, 1942. They lived in several locations including, Murray, KY; Detroit, MI; Dearborn, MI; Brandenburg, KY; Franklin, KY; Bowling Green, KY; Elizabethtown, KY; and Louisville, KY. They had two children, Randall Jones, married to Sherry; and Marsha Board Rudolf.
In addition to her two children, she had four grandchildren: Kevin Jones, Florence, KY; Rhonda Jones, Huntersville, NC; Danny Board, Vine Grove, KY; and Derrick Board, Guston, KY.
Kevin is married to Kathy and they have two children; Kyle and Paige. Rhonda is single. Danny is married to Jackie and they have four children: George, Maggie, Danny Joe and John. Derrick is married to Bethany and they have three children: Caleb, Andrew and Sophia.
Also surviving are eight nieces and one nephew.
Myrtle was a devoted wife, a loving nurturing mother and grandmother, a beloved aunt, a friend to all, and a humble servant and follower of Jesus Christ! Her 97 years spent on earth were productive and well spent. To know her was to love her. She was a faithful church member wherever she lived. Her last church was Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, KY., Sunday afternoon, October 29th from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted 11am Monday, October 30, 2017, at the Westport Road Baptist Church 9705 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40241, with Dr. Chip Pendleton presiding. There will be an additional time for visitation at 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to the funeral service. The burial will be at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY.
