Murl Eugene Shaffer, 78, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 in New Albany, Indiana.
Murl was born on February 1, 1937 in Elizabeth, Indiana, to Herman and Annabelle (Langenberg) Shaffer. He was a plant manager for Hart Products in New Albany for many years. Murl was a member at Edwardsville United Methodist Church, served on the board of directors at Edwardsville Water Company, and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Along with his parents, Murl was preceded in death by his siblings; Herman Shaffer, and Mary Daugherty. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy (Phillips) Shaffer; children; Kirk Shaffer (Laura), Jami Powell (Bart); siblings; Carl Shaffer, Virgil Shaffer, Doris Blair, Carolyn Miller, Marilyn White; 4 grandchildren; Lauren Ferro (Nick), Michele Henderson (Jason), Steven Shaffer (Kiana), Hannah Powell; 3 great-grandchildren, Bella Ferro, Colton Ferro, and Carter Henderson.
Visitation will be from 12PM to 6PM on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Newcomer Funeral Home ( 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His service will at 11AM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home with visitation before from 9-11AM with cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville,KY 40205.
