Morrison Leroy "Mo" Lewellen, age 84, of Louisville, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was a Veteran with the National Guard with over 20 years of service. Morrison was a member of Southeast Christian Church for over 61 years and a member of the Masters Men for over 35 years. He was retired from General Electric with over 32 years of service where people knew him as "Lew". He was a Mason and member of Buechel Lodge #896 who recently received his 50 year pin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mae Lewellen; siblings, Leon Lewellen, Doris Jones and Ronald Lewellen; and a grandson, Richard Rosenstiel.
Morrison is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Clorine Durbin Lewellen; children, Bonnie Kennedy (Steve), Janet Gilpin (David) and Jerald Lewellen (Lisa); grandchildren, Brian Gilpin, Brent Gilpin, Steve Rosenstiel (Jenny), Emily Lewellen and Jacob Lewellen; great-grandson, Aarick Rosenstiel; siblings, Audrene Lewellen (Marlene), Kathleen Purkhiser and Anna Ruth Lee (Jerry); and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 1-8pm Monday, May 8, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, and also 9-11am on Tuesday, May 9th at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway in the Fireside Room. Funeral services will be 11am on Tuesday at Southeast Christian Church in the Chapel. Burial will take place at 10am Wednesday, May 10th at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky, with military honors.
