With heavy hearts and loving memories, we mourn the loss and celebrate the beautiful life of Mona Lisa Streble, who passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on November 24, 1954, Mona’s light and laughter touched everyone she encountered, leaving an imprint of joy, warmth, and love that will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends.
Mona’s journey began with her graduation from Stuart High School, and from there she created a life rich with connection, tradition, and delight in the simple joys around her. Mona was a force—bubbly, outgoing, and never one to shrink from telling a story or letting her infectious laugh ring out through a gathering. She was proud to be outspoken, bringing energy and honesty wherever she went, infusing every moment with realness and vivacity.
Family was always at the heart of Mona’s world, particularly her grandchildren, for whom she lived and found her greatest happiness. Mona cherished quality time with each family member, and nothing was more important to her than being present for milestones, holidays, and those everyday moments that become treasured memories. Each birthday brought a new opportunity for Mona to bake a favorite cake, selecting exactly what would make her loved ones feel celebrated. She was famed for her chocolate and dirt cakes—a sweet tradition that will be lovingly remembered, and often missed, around the family table. The holiday season was never brighter than when Mona was hosting; Christmas, her favorite holiday, brought out her joy, humor, and generosity in its fullest force as she gathered her family for meals, laughter, and comfort.
Mona’s hands and heart were never idle. She delighted in watching hummingbirds and cardinal birds flit through her garden, finding peace and inspiration in their beauty. Beach trips and visits to the Smoky Mountains brought her serenity and happiness, balanced by her love for lively games of Bingo and Bunco. Her creative spark shone in woodworking crafts, making wreaths, and painting her house, ensuring her home radiated warmth and personal touch. Days spent tending to her flowers, enjoying her pool, and admiring her koi fish in the garden pond reflected her appreciation for nature and her gift for creating beauty around her. Mona was also a passionate supporter of the UofL Cardinals, proudly cheering on her team through thick and thin.
Some of Mona’s most cherished moments were spent playing cards with her beloved husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, her laughter and spirited competitiveness filling the room. Tradition was important to her: hosting all the family holiday meals, decorating the house for every holiday, baking with care and love, and ensuring every gathering was brimming with stories and good food. Her home was a sanctuary, and she made it a place of welcome for everyone she cared about.
Mona’s passing is deeply mourned by her loving husband, Roy Streble; her children, Michelle Strobel (John), Tracy Fowler (Jason), and Adam Streble; and her adored grandchildren, Shelby, Lucas, Sawyer, Noah, Samantha, Olivia, and Jackson. She is also survived by her sisters, Rose and Debbie, and her brother, Dean, each of whom carry a part of her spirit forward in their own hearts and families.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lenora Garski, her father, Leo Garski, her beloved granddaughter, Amara Strobel and grandparents, Magdalene and Ralph Fullerton (Ging and Pap). Their memory remains ever-present in the family, intertwined with Mona’s own legacy.
The community is invited to celebrate Mona’s remarkable life at a visitation on July 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A memorial service will be held at the same location at 6:00 PM. Gathered together, we will remember the laughter, love, and light Mona gave so freely.
Though Mona’s presence will be missed more than words can say, her legacy of unwavering love, her stories, her joy for life, and her devotion to her family will endure. We honor her today, grateful for every moment shared, every laugh, and every loving embrace.
