Mitchell F. Gregory, Sr., affectionately known as Mitch, left this world on September 14, 2025, at the age of 88 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 6, 1936, in Bevier, Kentucky, Mitch was a dedicated family man who enjoyed a fulfilling career and rich personal life.
As a truck driver for The Kroger Company, Mitch spent 31 years serving the community, where he exemplified reliability and excellence in his profession. His commitment to safe driving earned him safe driving awards for an impressive 20 consecutive years, a testament to his diligence and care on the road.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mitch was a passionate vegetable gardener. He found joy in nurturing the earth and reaping the rewards of his labor. In addition to his love for gardening, he also enjoyed the great outdoors, embracing activities such as hunting and fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and create lasting memories.
Mitch leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Barbara Faye Gregory, and a loving family that includes his children, Mitchell Gregory, Jr. (Theresa), Timothy Gregory (Tina), Christopher Gregory (Allison), and Susan Manfredi (Greg). His legacy will continue through his grandchildren, Haley Gregory, Kirsten Santos, Rebekah Varney, Hannah Paulin, Lydia Gregory, Allie Gregory, Kiefer Gregory, Alexis Gregory, Gregory Manfredi, II, and Isabella Manfredi, as well as his seven great-grandchildren who filled his life with joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary McIntyre and Phyllis Mitchell, and his brother, Dorris Gregory.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Ellis Gregory and Betty Zaeh, along with his sisters, Wanda Slinker, Dorothy Hamner, Shirley Richards, and his brother, Bennie Gregory.
His family and friends will gather to honor his memory during visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243, on September 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 4:30 PM. Private burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. Mitch’s life was one of dedication, love, and respect; he will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
