Minerva Teresa Lorenzo-Rodriguez

Minerva Teresa Lorenzo-Rodriguez, age 76, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Born on July 11, 1949, in Blanquizar, Cuba, Minerva led a life dedicated to education and family, leaving behind a legacy of influence cherished by generations.

Throughout her lifelong career as an educator, Minerva formed enduring relationships with her students, shaping minds with a commitment that went beyond the classroom. Her straightforward personality, coupled with an exceptional ability to notice even the smallest details, distinguished her as both a teacher and a person of remarkable integrity and care.

Minerva was an excellent mother and grandmother, taking great pride in her daughters and eagerly sharing stories of her beloved family. Her deep connection to her Cuban roots remained steadfast throughout her life, a heritage she carried with honor even as she embraced the opportunities and experiences found in the United States, particularly during the years she called Florida home. Among her many joys was a passion for coffee, a simple pleasure that was characteristic of her warm and vibrant spirit.

She was born to Nazario Lorenzo and Ophelia Rodriguez. Minerva’s loving family who survive her include her daughters, Yanelkys Morell-Lorenzo and Yanetsy Lorenzo-Rodriguez (Carlos Paez). She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren who loved her deeply: Marcos Paez-Lorenzo, Carlos Paez-Lorenzo, Ananda Montes-Morell, and Angello Montes-Morell. In addition, she is survived by her brothers Miguel, Jorge, Magalis, Mineida, and Midalmis Lorenzo.

Honoring her wishes, Minerva was cremated with care entrusted to Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany.
