Millicent Ruth (Sams) Witthoeft

Millicent Ruth (Sams) Witthoeft, 82, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, and Orange, California, died on Sunday afternoon, February 3, 2019. She was a devout Christian and Baptist by faith. Millicent had a successful and distinguished career in the insurance industry that began at Great West Life Insurance in 1960. She enjoyed politics, was always the life of the party, and made the most of each day that was given to her. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and also enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and watching movies.

She was born on March 22, 1936, in Hector, Kentucky, to the late Kelly and Laura (Thompson) Sams. Millicent was also preceded in death by her siblings, Estil Sams, Rosemarie White, Harvey Sams, Laura Wolfe, Jane Vogen, Stanley Sams, and Chelsea Miller.

Millicent is survived by her sons, Joel "Mark" Witthoeft (Dana) and James "Craig" Witthoeft (Kasey); sisters, Emily "Sue" Malkowski and Joyce McCarty (Roy); grandchildren, Jake and Sara Witthoeft; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen following Millicent's wishes. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Millicent will be laid to rest privately in the Sams family cemetery in Hector, Kentucky.
