Miles Thomas Carmany, 42, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Born on April 12, 1984, in Tucson, Arizona, Miles was the son of Rafael and Elizabeth Carmany. His journey was marked by dedication, service, and a profound faith in Christ that grounded him throughout his life.
Miles built a respected career in information technology, where his talents made the most complex challenges effortlessly manageable. His professional life was distinguished not only by skill but also by a genuine desire to assist others. He dedicated considerable time to supporting churches and non-profits, reflecting his deep commitment to community and service.
Above all, Miles was a devoted family man. He and his wife, Kimberly Carmany, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage, opened their hearts and home as foster parents to 13 children. Their compassion culminated in the adoption of their beautiful daughter, Evelyn. Miles loved his girls fiercely and embodied the role of father with dedication and tenderness. His family was central to his life, and his steadfast love was a source of strength and comfort to them.
Those who knew Miles would describe him as gentle, genuine, and humble, coupling a brilliant mind with the warmest smile and a remarkable sense of humor. His integrity was evident through a strong and unwavering conviction of what is right and wrong, qualities that earned him great respect among friends and family alike.
Miles held many personal interests that included being an avid reader and a devoted admirer of J.R.R. Tolkien's works. His passion extended to LEGO building, the world of the Lord of the Rings, and all things Apple.
In addition to his parents, Miles is survived by his loving wife Kim, his cherished daughter Evelyn, his sister Alexandra Lauber and her husband Stephen, as well as his proud grandparents, Dr. Thomas B. and Eleanor Carmany. Miles also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and extended family members who hold his memory dear.
Services for Miles will be held privately, and he will be laid to rest at Charlestown Cemetery. The family entrusted Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in New Albany with the care.
