Mildred J. Seewer

Mildred J. "Mickie" Seewer, 87, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024. Mickie was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church where she loved to serve her parish and surrounding community with time and hospitality. Mickie worked in food service for the New Albany-Floyd County school system for over 40 years until her retirement. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and gardening and always treated others to her special comfort foods and baked goods. Mickie treasured the simple country life and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born on March 7, 1937, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to Leonidas and Lorena (Stumler) Hooe. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Seewer, Jr.; brother, Bill Hooe; sisters, Clara Carroll and Mary Ruth Banet; and granddaughter, Angela Bell.

Mickie is survived by her sons, David L. (Sonya) Seewer, Dennis R. (Mary) Seewer, and Steven J. (Pam) Seewer; brother, Lonnie (Linda) Hooe; grandchildren, Josh, Tyler, Kayden, Alicia, Damon, and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren, Avery, Aiden, Ella, Rowan, Jonah, Ford, and Georgie.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 Saint Mary's Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN) with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Mickie's memory be made to St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
