Mildred Louise (Jacques) Plue, 92, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017. She began her career at The Home Telephone Company and retired from Indiana Bell. During WWII, Mildred served as a telephone operator at Camp Atterbury. She was a long-time member of Scottsville Christian Church, her Class Reunion group, and the Ladies Bible study at Graceland. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mildred was a horse show mom, always dedicated, present, and supporting her daughter at competitions.
She was born on April 28, 1924, in New Albany to the late Jess and Maude (Thomas) Jacques. Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband, Arch Plue, Jr.; and siblings, Vernon and Laura "Liz" Jacques.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Laura Brown (Greg); sister, Ruth Richey; brothers-in-law, Royce Threlkel and Donald Jones; granddaughters, Sabrina and Sheridan Brown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in New Albany.
