Miguel Gomez-Dominguez, born on March 3, 1972, in Mexico City, left this world unexpectedly on February 4, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana, at the age of 53. A loving father and dedicated grandfather, Miguel was a pillar of strength and kindness to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Miguel’s passion for cooking led him to build a rewarding career bringing authentic, close to home Mexican cuisine as a chef in successful restaurants such as La Rosita Grill, Mayan Cafe, Decca, Harvest Restaurant, and Mexa. His passion for cooking brought joy to many. He poured love into every meal he prepared, a testament to his belief that food could connect people and create memories. To call him a chef would be an understatement; he was a master of many crafts who approached every challenge, mechanical, creative, or domestic, and he never met a task he couldn't master. His skills were matched only by the dedication he showed towards his family. Miguel was always hardworking. Miguel was known for being straightforward, honest, and unfailingly loving. He devoted his life, as a single father, to ensuring his daughters, Michelle Nicole (Daniel Bonilla) and Marjony Axtrid (Ivan Profitt) Gomez, were cared for and nurtured their dreams. His pride and joy were his grandsons, Mikhole Omaet and Manok Octavian Bonilla, whom he treasured and spoiled with affection.
Education was important to Miguel, who was a proud high school graduate, but it was his experiences in life and love for his family that truly shaped who he was. It was this same love that led him to leave his beloved life in Mexico and immigrate to the United States.
Miguel found balance in hobbies that reflected his multifaceted personality. He enjoyed working on his 1973 Super Beetle among his many other Volkswagen Beetles (1974, 2012, 2013, 2018 Beetles, & 2015 Jetta), Djing with his Sonido Juventud Latina at some of the biggest events in Mexico City, and enjoyed being a shopaholic, endlessly spoiling his girls and later on his grandchildren. These moments on Sundays shopping, eating, and spending time together with his family are countless, echoing with laughter and love.
The memories of Miguel are etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He stood as a loving guardian and a source of wisdom, embodying the values he cherished and instilling them in the next generation. He cherished family above all else and took immense pride in watching them grow.
Miguel is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Octavio Gomez and Crescencia Dominguez, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. As well as his beloved little brother, Luis Rey, and older sisters Amparo and Adela Gomez. His legacy will continue through his daughters and grandsons, who will carry forward the spirit of love and dedication he embodied throughout his life.
