Micky Don Storie

August 28, 1940 — March 11, 2022

Listen to Obituary
Born: August 28, 1940, Madison, Indiana

Died: March 11, 2022, Floyds Knobs, Indiana

Micky was a faithful and righteous servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. A charter member, Elder, and longtime Sunday School teacher at Calvary Christian Church, his love for Jesus made him a true disciple for Christ, and this was evident in his expression of love to all those around him. He was welcomed through the threshold of Eternity in the peaceful and holy presence of Jesus Christ at the age of 81.

Micky Storie attended and graduated from Madison High School, Madison, Indiana, in 1958.

He was an employee of the Madison Courier Newspaper for 10 years, working as a printer. He then worked at the Courier Journal and Times Newspaper in Louisville, Kentucky, for 32 years as a printer and in the photography department. He was a loving son to Arthur Roscoe Storie and Portia (nee Kidwell) Storie who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Karen Lee (nee Orr) Storie; and by his devoted and adoring daughter Melanie (Don) Sherrard.

He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Jonathan (Erica) Sherrard, Kathryn (Jordan) Givan, and Matthew (Jaclyn) Sherrard; and by eleven great-grandchildren, Gerty, Posy, Tobiah, Willow, Tyler, Kayla, Christian, Colton, Delilah, Will, and Jacob, who fondly knew him as "Pop-Pop."

Micky enjoyed making and collecting knives with which he enjoyed whittling hiking sticks for his grandchildren to use on their "treks." He was also an avid hobby photographer and developer, and some of his favorite subjects were his daughter Melanie, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and other "wildlife." He had a passion for cars and motorcycles and always enjoyed a good meal, especially if the menu included Karen's fried chicken or doughnuts. He enjoyed target shooting, gunsmithing, and teaching gun safety to his grandchildren and was a lifetime NRA member. Despite all these various interests, by far, his favorite activity was "Family," where he was always, in his kind and quiet way, demonstrating his love and devotion to his wife, daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pop-Pop will be more than greatly missed.
