Michael Lee Whelan

Michael Lee Whelan, departed this life on July 30, 2026. He was born on March 2, 1963 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Clifford and Beverly (Brown) Whelan. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Christina. 

He is survived by his daughters, Danielle Whelan and Derby Whelan, his son, Michael Johnson (Whelan), his grandchildren: Marcus Masterson, Royal King, Caleb, Nathaniel, Jacob, Jaden Rose, and Haley Johnson, his sister, Sherrie Mehene (Jeff), his sister-in-law, Melissa Anders, and his great-aunt, Mary Lee Whelan.

Mike's wish was to be cremated and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care.

The family requests that contributions in Michael's memory be made to Newcomer Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
