Michael Joe Simon, Sr.

Michael Joe Simon, Sr., 67, of Memphis, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. Michael always enjoyed camping and horses and also liked playing golf when he could. In his younger days he loved riding motorcycles, a passion that he passed on to others in his family.

He was born on December 4, 1948, in Cario, Illinois, to the late James E. Simon, Sr., and Martha P. (Kelly) Simon. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Pigg; brother-in-law, Bill Williams; and sister-in-law, Donna Simon.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Violet (Webb) Simon; children, Michael Simon, Jr., Rhonda Pacheco, Hope Simon (Rodrigo), and Michael "Todd" Simon; siblings, James Simon (Ruby), Diane Simon, Dolores Devine (James), Ronnie Simon (Melody), Debbie Williams, and Donnie Simon; brother-in-law, Dexter Pigg; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his faithful Chihuahua companion, Socks.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
