Michael W. Manion

Michael W. Manion, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 26, 2026, in his hometown at the age of 76. He was born on January 19, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Michael graduated from DeSales High School in 1968 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he built a long and steady career, working in the maintenance department at General Electric for more than 40 years. He was known as a friend to everyone he met, and that kindness and openness left a lasting impression on the many people whose lives he touched. He also shared a special bond with his brother-in-law, Gary, who was his best friend.

Above all, Michael will be remembered as a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Manion; his son, Michael Manion, Jr.; and his daughters, Becky Blandford (Phil) and Missy Barker (Todd). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Gracie, Beau, Ava, Maddie, and Abby, who brought great joy to his life. Michael is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Koch and Marian McDaniel, and by his brother, Tony Manion. His family and friends will hold close the memory of his warmth, loyalty, and the easy friendship he offered so freely.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Manion; his mother, Theresa Brown; his step-father, Euclid Brown; his brother, Richard Manion, Jr.; and his sisters, Martine Caffee and Cathy Brown.

Visitation will be held on September 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will take place there the same day from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Michael’s life was marked by service, hard work, and a genuine care for others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
