Mike "Big Papa" Head, age 61 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully the evening of October 30, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends.
Mike graduated from Westport High School in 1975 and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a talented percussionist, gifted at writing, and a brilliant student.
His father, Robert "Bobby" Head, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Head; children, Tara Loyd (Jason), Brittany Limbach (Mark), and John Head (Amy); brother, Robbie Head (Debbie); sisters, Debbie Head (Rob) and Shannon Cunningham (Chris); grandchildren, Vivian Loyd, Emmett Loyd, Estelle Limbach, Everett Limbach, Calvin Limbach, Geneva Limbach, and soon to be born, Charlotte Head; life partner and best friend, Anisha Moore.
Mike was well known for his incredible sense of humor in any circumstance, his ability to relate to everyone, his passion for cooking, and his love of learning. He enjoyed spending time with and talking to his children and grandchildren, gardening, tracking the weather, and creating everlasting recipes for his friends and family to enjoy. Mike worked tirelessly and selflessly to care for his elder father, mother, close friend Adelia, demonstrating his unyielding support and devotion to others. He will be best remembered by his ability to bring people together through his incredible gift and love for cooking.
Visitation to begin at 10am, followed by the funeral at 12pm, on Monday, November 5, at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Louisville Chapel, located at 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown.
Memorials donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
