Michael Allen Groves

Michael Allen Groves, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 49. He was born on July 3, 1977, in Corona, California.

Michael will be remembered as a hardworking man who built his life around family, friendship, and the satisfaction of doing a job well done. For many years, he worked as a master electrician at Steadfast Electric, where his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic were a meaningful part of his life. He attended North Bullitt High School and carried with him a love of work and of teaching others how to work, sharing both knowledge and encouragement with those around him.

Outside of work, Michael found joy in the things that brought people together. He was an avid fan of the University of Louisville and the San Francisco 49ers, and he enjoyed playing golf, proudly making a hole in one. He also loved spending time with friends and family at bonfires and over games of cornhole, creating moments of laughter and connection that will be fondly remembered. Among the memories his family will hold close is the time he spent coaching his sons in t-ball and youth basketball, giving his care, guidance, and support in ways that made a lasting difference.

Michael is survived by his wife, Leslie Groves; his son, Sean Groves; his step-sons, Dylan Dutschke (Mattie) and Andrew Dutschke (Kiarra); and his step-daughter, Chloe Dutschke (Jacob). He is also survived by his father, Donald Sexton, and his mother, Roberta Sexton; his brother, Kenneth Sexton (Trish); his sisters, Tracey Donsbach (Jason), Tina Yatalese (Billy), and Krystal Groves; his beloved dog, Skittles; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by each of them and by the many friends and loved ones whose lives were brightened by his presence.

He was preceded in death by his nephews, Brian Cronce and Louis Simmons.

Michael’s life was marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and enjoyment of the simple pleasures that brought people close. His memory will live on in the stories shared around gatherings, in the lessons he passed along, and in the love he gave so freely to those around him.
