Michael Allen Banet

Michael Allen Banet, 78, a lifelong resident of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Born on March 31, 1948, Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He went on to build an over 35 year long career as a lineman for AT&T, retiring after years of dedicated work. He was active in a number of organizations throughout his life, including the American Legion, the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. He also found great enjoyment in life’s simple pleasures, like playing cards, golfing, and traveling, with the Colorado mountains being his favorite spot.

Above all, Mike will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Kost. He also leaves his children and their families: Jeffrey Banet (Angie), Monica Bottorff (Greg), Christopher Banet, and Kevin Banet (Ting Ting). His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Nolan, Luke, Mallory, Leo, Abbigail, Reese, Lincoln, Easton, Ruby, and Emily.

Mike is also survived by his siblings: Rev. Stephen Banet, Paul Banet (Becky), Ralph Banet (Denise), Theresa Getrost (Gary), and Joan Endris (Joe), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and his special Colorado family.

He was born on March 31, 1948 to Odell Banet and Berniece (Schmidt) Banet. Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Blanc) Banet.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and continue on Thursday morning after 8:30 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike's memory may be made to Norton Kosair Children's Hospital (231 E. Chestnut Street, Louisville KY 40202), St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities (702 E. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150) or to Huntington's Disease Society of America (505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1402, New York, NY 10018).
