Listen to Obituary

Miangelia “Mimi” Patterson Bates, surrounded by her loving family, transitioned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 10, 2026. Mimi was a warm and compassionate soul who saw God’s beauty in every person she encountered. She went out of her way to show kindness, consistently reflecting the love of God in all she did.

Mimi was born on March 27, 1977, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Tina R. Patterson and Torance Mulder. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Stamping Ground, Kentucky, where she was active in the life of the church.

She graduated from Seneca High School in 1996. She later attended Kentucky State University and went on to complete her studies at the School of Hair Design, graduating in the late 1990s. Mimi worked in various positions, including UPS, until health challenges led to her becoming disabled at an early age.

Mimi is survived by her husband, Victor Bates; two beloved children, Elijah Patterson and Toria Bates; and her stepdaughter, Vernisha Bates. She also leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rev. Dr. Tina R. Patterson; her father, Elder Torance Mulder (Luedna); her sister, Avery Mulder; and two stepbrothers, Blake Henderson and Brandon Henderson. She is further survived by her grandmother, Alma Patterson; her mother‑in‑law, Christina Bates; several aunts and uncles; two special aunts, Tami Patterson Garrett and Audrey Patterson; and three special uncles, Tony Patterson, Fernando Patterson, and Robert Webb. She also leaves behind a host of loving cousins and dear friends, including Laura Mills, Trish Swann, Jorge Rogers, Danielle Brewer, and Ms. Kim Ellery.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and friends at Fresenius Kidney Care, as well as the many physicians who cared for Mimi throughout the years.

Mimi’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
