Merle Lee Harrison

November 4, 1931 — April 28, 2017

Merle Lee Harrison, 85, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on April 28, 2017, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on November 4, 1931, to Leo and Jessie (Byrne) Harrison. Merle retired from Whayne Supply in Louisville, Kentucky after many years of service and was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, along with the occupational force of Japan. He later in life owned and operated Harrison Electronics and loved farming as well. Merle enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking hunting trips to Canada and Kansas.

Along with his parents, Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Crim) Harrison. He is survived by his loving children; Dennis Harrison (Peggy), Marjory Lang (Gary), Diane Banks (Roger); siblings, Beverly Vannier (Dr. Frank), James Harrison (Charlene); 7 grandchildren; Brook, Marshall, Christian, Shane, Garrett, Christopher, Chelsea, along with 13 great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial visitation held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 2 to 7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) with service to follow at 7PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Hosparus Unit at Robley Rex VA Medical Center located at 800 Zorn Ave, Louisville, KY 40206.
