Melvin L. Turner Sr.

Melvin L. Turner, Sr. 82, of Louisville, KY, passed away on February 7, 2025.

Melvin was born on February 6, 1943, in Knoxville, TN to Frank Turner, Sr. and Virginia Turner. He was a graduate of Tennessee State University and Indiana University.

Melvin always had a positive attitude and never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his son, Melvin Turner, Jr. (Kennedy), his daughter, Candace Goins (Ed), grandchildren, Austin Turner, Mikah Goins and Isaiah Goins, brothers Frank Turner, Jr. (Stephanie), Elston Turner, Sr. (Louise), and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Turner, Sr., mother Virginia Turner, and a brother, Rickey Wayne Turner.

A celebration of life will be held on March 3, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Northeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love the 'Ville Outreach in Melvin’s honor. 

Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions East Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY 40243, is entrusted with his arrangements.
